My 2014 Lancer

New brake rotor
Not from my car, but from another project.

Alright, so it’s that time of year I start working on my car again. It isn’t too hot, and not too cold, and pretty comfortable. I bought my 2014 Lancer about two years ago now, and it had 63k miles on it when I got it. I’ve since put just short of 30k on it myself. I have some issues with the car, though it’s mostly personal preference. First is that I bought an ES which is a base model with no options. That’s my own fault for not shopping around more, but I was just in a rush. It is an extremely basic car, not that there’s anything wrong with that, it is an affordable semi-reliable daily.

Speaking of reliability, it hasn’t failed me once. Though since it is getting up in mileage, and based on the lack of maintenance from the previous owner, some issues have become pretty apparent.

What’s needed

The suspension needs some love, I am going to fully redo the entire front end, and do the rear shocks. I already have shocks, and lower control arms ready to go, and more parts coming soon. After that I am going to do all of the fluid changes, Brake fluid, coolant, Trans fluid, oil change, etc. I am concerned with the CVT transmission, mostly because they’re not great, they have issues, and are expensive to replace. I’m currently doing research on whether or not a swap to the five speed manual that also came in these cars is feasible. There isn’t a whole lot of information out there about such a swap, or maybe I’m just not digging in the right places. But for now I am just going to do a fluid change, and hope that my CVT remains reliable until I can figure it out.

Another sad thing with my car is that I hit a deer with it last year…. Very sad indeed, it only took cosmetic damage, nothing important broke. So with that being said, it’s time to make her pretty again! All I need to accomplish that is a new hood, and bumper. The hood has a little crimp in it, and the bumper is cracked and out of place. The grille is busted as well.

Then My 2014 Lancer Will Be Done

After the suspension work is done and the cosmetics are fixed, I have plans for my car. Plans for upgrades, plans to make her look even better, and plans to make her more fun. I have neglect my Lancer for awhile, but it is time I gave it some love. I will of course share all of my progress here, and keep you all updated with the details. Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed your labor day weekend! Have a great Morning/Afternoon/Evening.

Success! You're on the list.
